Crusty French Bread

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 (1/4 ounce) packets yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 6 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • flour
  • 4 teaspoons salt

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve yeast in water.
  • 2 add other ingredients and enough flour to make a stiff dough.
  • 3 let rise, punch down, and make into three or four long, thin loaves.
  • 4 place on baking sheets dusted wiht corn meal and let rise.
  • 5 cut gashes into loaves, and place into a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
  • 6 for a glaze, you can brush tops with mixture of one beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of water.
