Greek Fried Cheese Bread

Ingredients

- 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2-2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground aniseed
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons grated onions
- 3/4 cup crumbled goat cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- fresh ground pepper, to taste
Recipe
- 1 in a small bowl, stir together the yeast and water until yeast is dissolved.
- 2 in large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, cornmeal, salt, and anise seed.

- 10 punch down the dough and place on a lightly floured surface; roll out to a 10-inch circle.

- 12 preheat oven to 375°f.
- 13 heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium heat.
- 14 place dough in skillet and brush with remaining oil.
- 15 sprinkle with the onion, goat cheese, oregano, and pepper.
- 16 fry until bottom of dough is crisp and brown, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
