Parmesan Bay Biscuits

Total Time: 28 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 13 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon old bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, chilled and cut into pieces
  • 6 tablespoons low-fat buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Recipe

  • 1 mix the first 5 ingredients in a bowl.
  • 2 cut in the butter using a pastry blender or with hands until the mixture is a coarse meal.
  • 3 put the flour mixture in the fridge for 10 min and also preheat the oven to 400°f.
  • 4 mix the buttermilk, parmesan and honey in a bowl.
  • 5 once the flour mixture is chilled, add the buttermilk mixture and stir until just combined.
  • 6 knead lightly (i live at 5000 ft so i often need a little extra buttermilk).
  • 7 turn onto a floured counter and roll out into a rectangle.
  • 8 lightly sprinkle flour and fold into thirds. repeat once more.
  • 9 roll out to about 3/4th inch thickness then cut using the 13/4 in round cutter.
  • 10 bake on a parchment lined baking sheet in the 400f oven for 13 minute.
  • 11 if you're feeling indulgent, brush the top with melted garlic butter as soon as they're out of the oven.
  • 12 serve with soup or pasta and enjoy!
