Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
- Servings: 10
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Recipe
- 1 mix first 4 ingredients in a big bowl with a fork.
- 2 pour in buttermilk and raisins.
- 3 stir really fast until everything comes together like a ball of clay.
- 4 knead on a floured board for a few seconds.
- 5 place on lightly floured baking sheet.
- 6 cut a deep cross on top, all the way down the sides.
- 7 bake at 425 about 45 mins, until nicely browned and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 8 place on rack to cool, or better yet, eat right out of the oven!
