Oatmeal Bread

Total Time: 4 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 3 hrs 30 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 5 -6 cups flour

Recipe

  • 1 bring 2 cups of water to a boil, pour over oatmeal, and let cool.
  • 2 dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • 3 to oatmeal mixture, add sugar, yeast, butter, molasses, and flour.
  • 4 knead hard and let rise for 45 minutes. punch down and let rise an additional 30 minutes.
  • 5 place into greased bread pans and let rise 2 hours.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.
