Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients
- 1 cup raw oats
- 6 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 fresh yeast cake
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup luke warm water
- 2 cups boiling water
Recipe
- 1 pour boiling water over oats, molasses, shortening and salt. cool to lukewarm.
- 2 dissolve yeast in the 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to the first mixture.
- 3 work in all the flour and knead until smooth.
- 4 place in greased bowl, cover and let rise one hour.
- 5 divide dough in half, shape loaves and place in greased loaf pans.
- 6 let rise until doubled in bulk.
- 7 bake at 350 degrees one hour.
- 8 makes 2 loaves.
