Onion Cheddar Bread

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 8 teaspoons butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed, divided
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced into rings and halved

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 melt 1 tablespoon butter in a medium skillet.
  • 3 add chopped onion and saute until tender, 5-6 minutes.
  • 4 combine milk and egg.
  • 5 add biscuit mix and stir until just moistened.
  • 6 stir in onions, 1/2 cup cheese, and 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds.
  • 7 spread in a greased 8" round pan.
  • 8 sprinkle remaining cheese and poppy seeds on top.
  • 9 melt 2 teaspoons butter in the same skillet.
  • 10 add sliced onion and saute until wilted, 3-4 minutes.
  • 11 arrange sliced onion over top of dough.
  • 12 melt remaining butter and drizzle over top.
  • 13 bake 20 minutes.
  • 14 cut into 8 wedges and serve warm.
