Onion Cheddar Bread

Ingredients

- 8 teaspoons butter, divided
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg, slightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups biscuit mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 tablespoon poppy seed, divided
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 onion, thinly sliced into rings and halved
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
- 2 melt 1 tablespoon butter in a medium skillet.
- 3 add chopped onion and saute until tender, 5-6 minutes.
- 4 combine milk and egg.
- 5 add biscuit mix and stir until just moistened.
- 6 stir in onions, 1/2 cup cheese, and 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds.
- 7 spread in a greased 8" round pan.
- 8 sprinkle remaining cheese and poppy seeds on top.
- 9 melt 2 teaspoons butter in the same skillet.
- 10 add sliced onion and saute until wilted, 3-4 minutes.
- 11 arrange sliced onion over top of dough.
- 12 melt remaining butter and drizzle over top.
- 13 bake 20 minutes.
- 14 cut into 8 wedges and serve warm.
