Devonshire Splits

Total Time: 1 hr 3 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 18 mins

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces milk
  • 2 cups unbleached bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fast rising yeast
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • heavy whipped cream
  • jam

Recipe

  • 1 place ingredients in bread maker according to manufacturer's directions.
  • 2 set on dough setting.
  • 3 grease two baking sheets.
  • 4 when dough cycle is finished place dough on lightly floured surface and punch back. divide into 8 portions. shape each into a ball and place on baking sheets. flatten the tops slightly. cover with lightly with oiled plastic wrap and let rise 30- 45 minutes.
  • 5 preheat oven to 425 degrees. bake 15 to 18 minutes until golden.
  • 6 split and fill with whipped cream and jam.
  • 7 dust with sugar before serving.
