Real Indian Fry Bread

Ingredients
- Servings: 10
- 3 cups flour (sifted)
- 2 1/2 cups lukewarm milk (or water if milk is not available, like if you're camping!)
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar (or salt, if you don't want it to be sweet-tasting)
- shortening (to deep-fry)
Recipe
- 1 mix dry ingredients.
- 2 add liquid and roughly mix.
- 3 heat shortening in an iron skillet (about 1 1/2 to 2 inches deep).
- 4 drop dough from greased slotted spoon into hot shortening and deep fry until lightly golden brown, turning once to brown both sides.
- 5 drain on paper towels.
- 6 serve buttered with cinnamon and/or powdered sugar. yum!
