Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 ounce dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 teaspoons butter, melted
- 5 cups flour
Recipe
- 1 pour boiling water over oats; let rest 2 hours.
- 2 sprinkle yeast over lukewarm water; stir until dissolved.
- 3 add to oats with molasses, salt and butter.
- 4 stir in flour, beating with wooden spoon until well mixed.
- 5 shape into ball.
- 6 place in a buttered bowl, cover with tea towel and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- 7 punch down, then beat again until smooth.
- 8 divide batter into 2 buttered loaf pans.
- 9 let rise until doubled, about 40 minutes.
- 10 bake in 375 oven for 40-45 minutes, or til loaves are golden and pull away from sides of pan.
