Ingredients
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 3 cups flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 ounce yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
Recipe
- 1 heat milk.
- 2 sift flour into a bowl, add half of the milk and butter. heat thoroughly.
- 3 add salt, sugar and eggs one at a time.
- 4 dissolve yeast in 1/4th cup of remaining milk with a little sugar and add to remainder of milk.
- 5 add this, the butter and cardamom to the batter and stir well.
- 6 cover and allow to rise for one-half to one hour.
- 7 heat monk iron (or aebelskiver pan) an put a little butter in each cavity. when the iron is hot, place a tablespoon of batter in each cavity.
- 8 a piece of fruit or a little jam may be added when the cakes have cooked for moment.
- 9 turn with wooden chopsticks or skewers and cook 2 - 3 minuts longer or until done.
- 10 serve warm with sugar or jam.
