Ontbijtkoek - Dutch Spice Bread

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 300 degrees fahrenheit.
  • 2 combine all ingredients into a smooth paste.
  • 3 lightly coat an 8" x 3" cake tin with butter and fill with the dough.
  • 4 bake for about 1 hour.
  • 5 when cooled, cover in tin foil for 24 hours before serving. keep covered or bread will dry out.
