Marie Morris's Church Supper Crescent Rolls.

Total Time: 5 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 hrs Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 (1/4 ounce) packages dry yeast, dissolved in
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, and
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 4 1/2 cups flour, sifted (may need more or less depending on humidity)
  • herbs (optional) or honey butter, is (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 scald milk. cool. add softened butter and salt.
  • 2 dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water.
  • 3 add flour. may need a little more or less depending on humidity. dough should be sticky.
  • 4 let rise 2 hrs in warm draft free location (alternately cover and place in refrigerator overnight).
  • 5 when doubled in size, punch down.
  • 6 pour onto floured board.
  • 7 divide in half and flatten each piece into a round shape.
  • 8 if desired spread with additional softened butter (may add herb or honey butter).
  • 9 cut into 12 wedge shaped pieces and roll into crescent shape.
  • 10 let rise in warm place, free of drafts (about 2 hrs).
  • 11 bake 8-10 minute at 400 degrees. brush with more butter while warm.
