Ingredients

• 1/2 cup warm water
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 teaspoon yeast

Recipe

• 1 dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
• 2 mix ingredients in the order given.
• 3 cut in shortning.
• 4 stir in buttermilk and yeast water.
• 5 mix.
• 6 put dough on floured board.
• 7 knead lightly.
• 8 dough may be slightly sticky. add flour.
• 9 let rise slightly.
• 10 bake 400 degrees until lightly browned.
