Date Toffee Scones

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1/2 cup skor english toffee bit

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 425f and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2 in a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. using a pastry cutter or two knives, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. add remaining ingredients and stir until just barely moistened. turn out onto a clean surface and knead until dough is smooth.
  • 3 divide dough into two equal parts. shape each part into a 3/4" thick circle; using a sharp knife, score the dough into five wedges. place on prepared baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until light golden brown.
