Drop Scones

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk

Recipe

  • 1 sift together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • 2 using a food processor, pulse in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • 3 stir in the evaporated milk just until mixed.
  • 4 line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • 5 drop scone-size scoops (1 oz) onto the parchment. if desired, apply an egg glaze, or sprinkle tops with granulated sugar.
  • 6 place tray of scones in the freezer. preheat oven to 425°f once preheated, transfer the scones directly to the top oven rack.
  • 7 bake 10-12 minutes.
