Pesto Biscuits

Total Time: 27 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup basil pesto
  • 1/2 cup milk, approximately
  • parmesan cheese (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 450 degrees.
  • 2 mix flour, baking powder and salt in large mixing bowl.
  • 3 cut in shortening and pesto, using a pastry blender or fork.
  • 4 stil in enough milk so that dough leaves sides of bowl and forms a ball.
  • 5 place dough on lightly floured surface.
  • 6 knead lightly, 10 times.
  • 7 pat or roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • 8 cut with floured biscuit cutter.
  • 9 place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 10 sprinkle with parmesan cheese, if desired.
  • 11 bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
