Marilyn's Tortillas!

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup water (more or less)

Recipe

  • 1 by hand softly blend the dry ingredients, then oil and when all ingredients are blended well slowly blend in the water till you get a nice soft, smooth, elastic ball. make sure you don't over blend to avoid making a tough ball.
  • 2 heat a griddle. best to cook with a cast iron skillet etc.
  • 3 divide the dough into 8 to 12 even dough balls. lightly kneed them into disks. place the disks into flour and roll out on a dusted surface. (this takes practice).
  • 4 place rolled tortillas into heated skillet/griddle and turn once little bubbles appear. then cook onto other side, then turn once more. place in a towel to keep warm. when done slather with butter -- yuuuum!
