Gingerbread

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup unsulphured molasses
  • 2/3 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 grease and flour a 9 x 5" loaf pan.
  • 3 in a bowl, measure the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon; set aside.
  • 4 in a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugars until light and fluffy on medium speed. beat in the egg and continue beating until combined.
  • 5 combine the molasses and milk in a small bowl. remove the butter mixture from the mixer. alternate adding the flour and milk mixtures to the butter mixture. fold the batter together with a rubber spatula.
  • 6 pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. bake for approximately 50 minutes or until done. let cool in pan.
