Gingerbread

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water, hot from the tap
  • 2 eggs

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees. grease a 9 inch square baking pan.
  • 2 in a bowl stir together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and pepper.
  • 3 in a large bowl mix together the melted butter and molasses.
  • 4 stir in the water until well mixed.
  • 5 add the eggs and mix to combine.
  • 6 add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • 7 pour into greased baking pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
