Easy Skillet Cornbread

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 425°f.
  • 2 grease the inside of your 8-inch cast iron skillet and place it in the oven.
  • 3 in a medium or large bowl, beat your egg and add milk and oil.
  • 4 stir in sugar, then cornmeal, just until moistened.
  • 5 the batter should be lumpy- do not overmix.
  • 6 carefully remove your skillet from the oven and pour in the batter.
  • 7 return to oven.
  • 8 bake for 20-30 minutes.
  • 9 the top of your cornbread should be golden-brown and a toothpick inserted in the center will come out clean when the bread is done.
  • 10 serve warm.
