Irish Brown Bread

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup natural bran
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups buttermilk or 2 cups soured milk
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
Recipe
- 1 in large bowl measure in flours, bran, sugar, baking soda and salt.
- 2 mix together and make a well in center.
- 3 pour in buttermilk and oil.
- 4 stir just to moisten.
- 5 scrape into greased 9x5x3 loaf pan.
- 6 bake at 350 for 1 hour.,.
- 7 remove from pan to cool.
- 8 serve plain or toasted.
- 9 irish raisin bread; add 1 cup raisins.
