Melt-in-your-mouth Butter Crescent Rolls

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water, 105-115 degrees
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 3 1/2-4 cups flour, as needed
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Recipe

  • 1 in a saucepan, heat milk til bubbles form around the edges of the pan. do not bring to a boil.
  • 2 combine butter, sugar and salt in medium-sized bowl.
  • 3 add hot milk and stir well.
  • 4 cool to lukewarm. (95-100 degrees.).
  • 5 in small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 6 let stand til foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  • 7 beat yeast mixture and egg mixture into milk mixture in large bowl at low speed.
  • 8 beat in 2 cups flour at low speed until smooth.
  • 9 continue beating until thick.
  • 10 mix in enough remaining flour til dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • 11 on a floured surface, knead dough very gently until smooth and elastic, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 12 place in a large greased bowl and turn to coat.
  • 13 cover loosely with damp cloth.
  • 14 let rise in warm place til doubled, about 1 hour.
  • 15 punch down dough.
  • 16 on a floured surface, divide dough in half.
  • 17 cover with a damp towel and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • 18 grease 2 baking sheets.
  • 19 using a floured rolling pin, roll one half of dough into a 12" circle, and cut circle into 6 wedges like a pizza.
  • 20 starting at wide end, roll up each wedge.
  • 21 place point-sides down onto baking sheets.
  • 22 curve ends to form crescents.
  • 23 repeat with remaining dough.
  • 24 cover loosely with a damp towel and let rise til almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
  • 25 brush crescents with glaze.
  • 26 bake in 400 degree oven til golden, about 15 minutes.
  • 27 cool on wire rack.
  • 28 serve warm, though.
