Herb Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 35 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm nonfat milk (70-80 degrees)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced dried onion
  • 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Recipe

  • 1 put all of the ingredients into a bread machine (put in order that the bread machine tells you to). let it mix for 5 minute and if wet add 1-2 t. flour, and if dry add 1 -2 t. water.
  • 2 when the cycle is done pour on to floured counter and punch down.
  • 3 form into a loaf, place in pan, and let rise until doubled -- 45 minute or so.
  • 4 bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
  • 5 cool on wire rack, and brush with remaining (1 t.) butter.
