Irene's Doughnuts (for Doughnut Maker)

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Recipe

  • 1 cream eggs and sugar until well blended.
  • 2 add vanilla and vinegar and mix well.
  • 3 combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
  • 4 combine buttermilk and heavy cream.
  • 5 add dry ingredients and buttermilk mixture alternately to sugar mixture.
  • 6 put into a donut maker.
  • 7 drop into 375ºf. lard.
  • 8 fry until brown on one side, flip and fry until the other side is browned.
  • 9 remove to paper towels.
