Pat's Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 50 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 900 ml warm water
  • 1 tablespoon treacle or 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1/2 compressed yeast cakes (crumbled) or 1 tablespoon dried yeast
  • 900 g wholemeal flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Recipe

  • 1 place in a bowl; water, treacle, & yeast. leave to stand for a few minutes.
  • 2 place in a large bowl: flour & salt.
  • 3 grease two 500g loaf tins well with butter.
  • 4 beat liquids with a rotary beater and pour into a well in the flour. mix toghether and place in tins. leave in a warm place to rise and then bake about 40 minutes at 190'c.
  • 5 if you would like a coarse crunchy loaf, use coarse ground flour and add 1c kibbled wheat ro rye, leaving out about 1/2c flour. other flours such as rye can be used instead of all or part wholemeal.
