Ingredients
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 cups barley flour
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Recipe
- 1 dissolve yeast in water.
- 2 add sourdough starter, salt, honey and butter.
- 3 stir until well-blended.
- 4 add flours and blend.
- 5 turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a couple of minutes.
- 6 place dough in a large buttered bowl, turning to coat all sides.
- 7 cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk.
- 8 punch down and knead for a couple of minutes.
- 9 divide dough into 2 equal pieces.
- 10 shape each piece into a ball.
- 11 place on a lightly greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- 12 preheat oven to 375°.
- 13 bake for about 30 minutes, or until loaves are browned and sound hollow when tapped with a finger.
- 14 cool wrapped in a towel.
