Maori Bread

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cups flour

Recipe

  • 1 combine yeast, water and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  • 2 add all the flour at once.
  • 3 mix well.
  • 4 knead a few minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5 grease a deep pot with a lid.
  • 6 place dough in pot and cover.
  • 7 let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • 8 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 9 bake, covered, for 45 minutes.
  • 10 remove lid and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  • 11 remove from oven and take bread out of pot.
  • 12 serve hot with honey-citrus butter.
