Easy Streamlined Bread (no Kneading)

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons soft shortening
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups flour

Recipe

  • 1 using a large mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 2 add shortening, salt, sugar and half the flour.
  • 3 beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
  • 4 add remaining flour and blend until smooth.
  • 5 scrape batter off sides of bowl and cover with a cloth.
  • 6 rise in warm place for 30 minutes, then beat 25 strokes by hand and spread evenly in a greased loaf pan.
  • 7 smooth top with floured hand and let rise again until 1/4" from top of pan (about 40 minutes).
  • 8 bake in preheated 375° oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until brown.
