Orange Upside-down Oven Biscuits

Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3 -4 tablespoons shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 for the topping:.
- 2 combine ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until butter and sugar melt, about two minutes.
- 3 divide the topping among a standard muffin tin.
- 4 do not line the muffin tin with paper baking cups.
- 5 for the biscuits:.
- 6 preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- 7 sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a large bowl.
- 8 cut in the shortening with two knives or a pastry blender until it forms coarse, uneven crumbs.
- 9 add the milk.
- 10 mix well, but with a light touch.
- 11 on a flour-dusted surface,roll the dough into a large rectangle.(approx 11x9).
- 12 spread with butter.
- 13 mix the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it over the dough.
- 14 roll as you would a jelly roll and slice into 12 biscuits.
- 15 place a single biscuit in each muffin cup.
- 16 bake until golden, about twenty minutes.
- 17 cool a couple of minutes,then invert cautiously onto a plate,taking care that the sticky topping doesnt burn you.
