Orange Rolls

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 compressed yeast cakes
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 grated orange rind or 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 sq. butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 2 melt sugar, salt, and butter or margarine in mixing bowl.
  • 3 let above mixture cool until luke warm, then add eggs.
  • 4 beat until foamy.
  • 5 add water.
  • 6 mix in flour.
  • 7 mix with spoon until well mixed. let rise until double in bulk.
  • 8 stir down and put in refrigerator until thoroughly chilled (over night or longer.) keep close watch while in refrigerator so it will not run over.
  • 9 roll dough approximately 1/2" thick. spread with orange mixture made from remaining ingredients.
  • 10 roll dough up like jelly roll. cut off 1/2" pieces and put in greased muffin tins.
  • 11 let rise until double in bulk and bake about 10 minutes at 400.
