Dried Pear Bread

Ingredients
- 6 ounces dried pear halves
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Recipe
- 1 cover dried pears with 2 c.
- 2 hot water and let soak 30 minutes.
- 3 drain pears and snip into small pieces.
- 4 sift dry ingredients together (except sugar).
- 5 combine in another bowl sugar, butter, egg, 1/4 c.
- 6 water and orange juice.
- 7 mix well; add dry ingredients.
- 8 stir in pears and pecans.
- 9 pour mixture into a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, which has been lightly greased and floured.
- 10 bake at 350f for 55-60 minutes.
- 11 cool 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
- 12 makes 1 loaf.
- 13 may be frozen.
