Dried Pear Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces dried pear halves
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Recipe

  • 1 cover dried pears with 2 c.
  • 2 hot water and let soak 30 minutes.
  • 3 drain pears and snip into small pieces.
  • 4 sift dry ingredients together (except sugar).
  • 5 combine in another bowl sugar, butter, egg, 1/4 c.
  • 6 water and orange juice.
  • 7 mix well; add dry ingredients.
  • 8 stir in pears and pecans.
  • 9 pour mixture into a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, which has been lightly greased and floured.
  • 10 bake at 350f for 55-60 minutes.
  • 11 cool 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
  • 12 makes 1 loaf.
  • 13 may be frozen.
